Billy Ray Cyrus is working on a new film, CHRISTMAS IN CANAAN, and believe us, it's gonna get you all misty.

Set in 1964, Billy plays a widower with three kids in the upcoming Hallmark Channel tear-jerker, which airs on the network Dec. 12.

"The story is beautiful, wonderful, powerful, happy and sad, everything Hallmark Channel represents in its films," he shares exclusively with CGL. "And I find this one to be an abundance of those emotions."

Billy's personal connection to the film might make you want to get out that hankie as well. "When I got into acting, my dad said, 'Son, I want you to have one of those careers like Kenny Rogers," the country crooner explains. Kenny is one of the writers on the production.

"My dad passed away four years ago. I felt as I read this script my dad was saying, 'See I told you, Kenny Rogers, man, stay with him,'" Billy says. "It's come full circle."

Off set, Billy's encouraging people to create a virtual sandwich on Facebook.com/hellmanns to support his latest cause, the Hellmann’s Sandwich Swap ‘n’ Share program to raise funds for Feeding America.

"Kids can be involved and realize they can make a difference by getting on the computer and making a sandwich, and the very sandwich they send will send seven lunches to feed America," he says.

Billy's favorite type to dig into?

"I just make turkey, mayo and bread, fold it in half and eat it like crazy."

And for Miley?
